My birthday was a week ago and I turned the big TWENTY-ONE! Whoop whoop! I have heard people say that turning twenty-one takes away the fun of drinking because there is no longer the thrill of it being illegal. Are you kidding?! It's been a week and I love it. On my birthday, my sister and I dressed up real fancy. I got to wear my thrifted, bedazzled dress that I have been dying to wear 🤩. We went to two bars taking free birthday shots and sipping cocktails while reminiscing on our childhood. We didn't get too crazy because...duhhhh...RESPONSIBILITY!
The next day, I left for Joan‘s house. I flew to Baltimore and then took a couple of trains (and a couple more because I took the wrong train) to Virginia. And I was reunited with my best friend. My time with Joan was so great. I didn’t receive any special treatment, but I was able to feel a part of the family as I helped Joan with farm chores, errands, and going to appointments. But the last night, Mrs. Brenda had a birthday dinner for me. Joan’s older brothers came to celebrate the feast with us. They even got me presents :') How freakin' nice? I was grateful to celebrate with a family.
We feasted on the ribs of one of their pigs and ate slaw and cornbread. Then, for dessert, we ate a key lime pie 😍 It was so kind for this family to take me in and celebrate my birthday days after my real birthday. If you are prepared for crackhead energy, watch the video to see what we were up to:

And last night, I went out with my sister and some of her friends for a ‘Ladies Night’ in downtown Detroit. We got a fancy dinner and some cocktails. They were all older and they really enjoyed me being newly legal, so they were educating me all about the different liquors and flavors. We went to a couple of bars and tried some nice and fancy cocktails that had elegant garnishes or were smoking. It was brilliant. Then, we went back to one of the girl’s parent house. They too were very amused that I was recently twenty-one, so they showed off their 200+ bottle wine collection of the fanciest wines and opened one of their best bottles of Cabernet for me to try.
Being twenty-one has been the best age and it’s only been a week. I haven’t abused my new right, but it has been so great to step into this new chapter and try so many drinks and explore bars. I still haven’t had a beer yet (legally) and I can wait. I'm not too big of a beer fan, and after the expensive drinks I have had, I have developed quite elite taste hehe.
I hope that everyone has a beautiful and merry Christmas!! Make way for the Lord is coming!
